Movie Review + Haiku: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Slacker finds dream girl Fights evil exes, plays bass Witty quip, game over I’ll lay out my biases towards this movie before I begin: – I have not read the comic books the movie is based on, BUT… – … I was really excited to see this. I’ve had a weakness for anything Jason Schwartzman [...]

Snowmageddon. Half Amusing The First Time I Heard It.

Posted by : Andrea

See those indents in the snow? I made them an hour and a half after this was taken. You can’t even tell I walked through it now. This insanity has accumulated in only nine hours. I keep hearing we have everything from four inches to six to eight to a foot, so I’m going to [...]

A Brain Trapped In the Body of Game Show Hostess

First: No Mining Monday today. It’ll be back next week. Second: I made a saute peppers, onions, spinach and humus sandwich today and it was delicious. Third: I have a rather paltry DVD collection; I hate spending money on DVDs, so I have to really LOVE a movie for me to buy it. I’ve watched [...]

A Movie Rut

My Netflix queue needs a little shaking up. Offer up any suggestions you got. Comedies and dramas of the indie persuasion are typically what I prefer, but I’ll watch pretty much anything. The only things I’m not a fan of are 1) senseless, plotless violent movies and 2) anything with Rob Schneider. Have at it.

CELEBRATE

Hey Andrea, you’re halfway through NaBloPoMo, what are you going to do next? “I’m going to blog again tomorrow!” Today was quite lovely. There were pancakes, walks through Oakland and reading on a park bench while oldies music was blasted through the neighborhood. Completely unproductive in some respects, totally worth it in every other. Sorry [...]

The Wilderness, Darling

ZOMG SO EXCITED. Let the hipster backlash start. I probably won’t see it any time soon though, as I am broke. I’ll just enjoy that that I COULD see it, if I had the cash to. Even though it’s pay day weekend, it’s also bill paying week. I could spend $10 to see that movie, [...]

The City and I Never Sleep

Posted by : Andrea

Sad fact: I really didn’t take as many pictures on my trip I thought I would. Half because I forgot I even had my camera with me, half because I was non-New Yorker in every group I was with and I didn’t want to be the token tourist. Plus they all walk so damn fast, [...]

I've Got Mail (Not Problems)

Posted by : Andrea

What I’m about to blog about may cause me to lose readers, dignity and respect. I’ve pretty lost the other two years ago but please dear readers, don’t leave me! At least hear me out. I saw Julie & Julia, which yes, haters, I greatly enjoyed. Meryl was amazing, should have been just a whole [...]

Listen Here, Whippersnapper

I saw Up yesterday and bawled my freaking eyes out. I didn’t hint at it the other day when I did my photo-heavy birthday post, but turning 24 was a little painful for me. It hit me pretty hard that my time left to be unsure about my life is evaporating. If I don’t point [...]

Never Turn Your Back On It

Why I haven’t been blogging:  I finished two books in the past two days and checked out four more.  I have a hard time balancing reading and blogging for some reason.  I get really into one for several days and abandon the other.  I need to find balance. I bought a wall calendar the other [...]
